75th Independence Day : How India Celebrated this memorable Day

Indian celebrated its 75th Independence day on Sunday with a feeling of appreciation to those who sweated for freedom and fought to build a strong and prosperous India. This special day is also recognized as 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav'. The theme for this year's independence day is  'Nation First, Always First'.


The Prime Minister of India hoisted the Indian flag and addressed the nation from Red Fort in New Delhi. All 32 Olympic winners, including Gold Medalist Neeraj Chopra, were honored during the Independence day celebration.

The PM said "I would like to begin by conveying greetings on this special occasion of Independence Day. This is a day to remember our great freedom fighters... Amrit Mahotsav of Independence, Happy 75th Independence Day to all of you and to all those who love India, love democracy all over the world," said the prime minister. 

"Be it Nehru Ji, the first Prime Minister of India, Sardar Patel, who turned the country into a united nation or Babasaheb Ambedkar, who showed India the way to the future, the country is remembering every such personality, the country is indebted to all of them," he added.


For the first time ever, as soon as the National Flag is hoisted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Independence Day celebrations, flower petals were showered at the venue by two Mi-17 1V helicopters of the Indian Air Force in Amrut formation.



To honor the corona heroes who played a vital role in fighting the COVID-19, a separate block on the south side of the rampart has been built. The entire Independence Day event, including Prime Minister, was broadcasted live on Doordarshan. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) also ran a live stream of the entire event on its YouTube channel. The official YouTube channel of the PMO also aired the entire event as well. 



All Heritage structures across the country were decorated with Tricolor on the special occasion of Independence day.
