The Tesla bot :A Terminator’-Like Robot

Have you ever thought that one-day cars can calculate road-surface geometry, predicts object movements, identifies traffic signs and barriers on their own? Have you ever imagined a car in space? Have you ever thought that one-day electric cars will be much faster than petrol and diesel cars? But yes, there is one man who did all these things possible and he's nonother than Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

During AI day, Elon Musk just announced a human-shaped robot titled " Tesla Bot" that could perform tasks that are generally repetitive, boring, and dangerous. As images of the upcoming robot were unveiled, it took social media by storm and reminded people about the ‘Terminator’-like AI apocalypse.

“Basically, if you think about what we’re doing right now with cars, Tesla is arguably the world’s biggest robotics company because our cars are like semi-sentient robots on wheels,” Musk said. “With the Full Self-Driving computer, which will keep evolving, and Dojo and all the neural nets recognizing the world, understanding how to navigate through the world, it kind of makes sense to put that on to a humanoid form.”

The Tesla bot is “intended to be friendly and navigate through a world built for humans,” he added. He also stated they’re developing it so that humans can run away from it and overpower it easily. Its weight will be 125 LBS and its height 5.8 Feet. It will have a walking gait of 5 miles per hour, and its face will be a screen that displays relevant information.

 

Tesla also called applications for senior humanoid mechatronic robotic architects and senior humanoid modeling robotic architects. Both positions call for someone to help the humanoid robotics modeling team build a Tesla Bot that can perform desired tasks as envisioned

It's obviously something we've been fascinated with forever and will continue to be for a long time. It could be one more form factor that Tesla is exploring. We are thrilled and excited at the same time for such futuristic technology.
