Amarinder Singh Resigned: Who Will Be The Next Chief Minister Of Punjab?

After months of infighting within the Punjab Congress, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh submitted his resignation to Punjab governor Banwari Lal Purohit on Saturday.

According to sources, Former Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar could be the first preference for the next chief minister. Sunil Jakkar is seen as a combination of the Hindu chief minister and Jat Sikh Punjab Pradesh, which might favour the Congress in upcoming Punjab elections.

There is also a possibility that Navjot Singh Sidhu might project himself for the unoccupied position. But Amarinder Singh said that he will oppose the name of state party chief Navjot Singh Sidhu's name for the new CM face.

“I had informed Congress president Sonia Gandhi this morning that I will be tendering my resignation today. The party seemed to have an element of doubt that I could not run the government. I feel humiliated," said Amarinder Singh after resigning from his post.

Punjab politics is taking an interesting turn. This might give an edge to his opposition parties especially, AAP (Aam Aadmi Party). Let's wait and watch what will happen next.
