Netflix sued by Sahara India

Netflix's Director of Business Development, Director, and Producer has been summoned by Lucknow court after a criminal defamation complaint was filed by Sahara India in the Lucknow Court.

Netflix released a documentary series named Bad Boy Billionaires due to which a complaint was filed against them for allegedly showing Sahara's Subrata Roy in a bad light.

The chief judicial magistrate issued summons to Netflix's Director of Business Development Abhishek Nag, Producer Reve Sharma, and Director Nick Reed on Wednesday, 13 October 2021.

According to the complaint filed, the documentary series on Sahara India Pariwar chairman, Mr. Subrata Roy, has allegedly tried to defame the image of Mr. Roy along with all the employees.

It is claimed that it was an attempt to destroy the image of Sahara India so that the other competing companies can get the advantage of the defamation.

Abhishek Nag, Nick Reed, and Reve Sharma have been asked to appear before the court on November 15.

The documentary was released last year on Netflix which had a total of four episodes out of which only three episodes were released. The fourth episode could not be released due to an injunction order from a Hyderabad court.

The first episode, "The King of Good Times" is about Kingfisher's Vijay Mallya.
The second episode, "Diamonds Aren't Forever" is about the jeweler Nirav Modi.
The third episode, "The World's Biggest Family" is about Sahara's Subrata Roy.
