Rajasthan accident: At least 11 people were found dead

11 people were killed in an accident in Jaipur, Rajasthan on Wednesday morning. The accident took place between a tanker and a passenger bus on the Barmer-Jodhpur National Highway near Bhandiwas in the Barmer district of Rajasthan.


According to passengers, the bus started from Balotra at 9.55am and was headed towards Jodhpur.

Police said that the rescue teams were unable to enter the bus even after several hours after the fire was extinguished.

The collision was so severe that the bus immediately emerged into flames and the people got burnt alive.

According to police, 22 passengers were undergoing treatment for burn injuries in a hospital situated near Balotra of Balmer district.

A tanker coming from the wrong side hit the bus having around 36 passengers in it at the time of the accident.

SP Bhargava said that the accident impact was severe and many passengers could not get out of the burning bus belonging to a private travel company in Gujarat. There were possibilities of bodies being found in the bus once the rescue teams entered it. 

Eleven bodies were found burnt from the scene, the SP said.

He also said that 23 people were brought to Balotra government hospital in burnt conditions out of which one died during the treatment.

PM Narendra Modi even announced an ex gratia of Rs. 2 Lakh each from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the families of all the people who died due to the accident. And those who were injured will be given Rs. 50,000 each.
